DORA (Diagnostic Online Reading Assessment) is a K-12 online reading assessment that separates reading into 8 diagnostic sub-tests: high-frequency words, phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, fluency, sight-word recognition, and comprehension. With DORA you can build a complete picture of a student's reading ability. Unlike a simple grade-level quiz, DORA is criterion-referenced and diagnostic, meaning it doesn't just tell you a student is behind; it identifies exactly which skills are causing the gap and which are already strong. DORA is aligned to the Science of Reading and treats each student independently of grade level, so a 6th grader can be diagnosed anywhere across the full K-12 range rather than being boxed into a narrow benchmark window. Homeschool parents, independent tutors, and learning specialists use DORA when they need objective, professional-grade data to plan instruction without hiring an outside reading specialist or waiting on a school evaluation. The assessment is fully self-administered online and generates an automated report immediately after the student finishes. Results from DORA’s assessment allow you to use the built-in tools to create lesson plans or utilize personalized supplementary curriculum, such as Let’s Go Learn’s Edge lessons.
